Fortnite is a game that tries to combine multiple concepts into one single, cohesive experience. For the most part, it works very well, but it does have its few issues here and there. However, Fortnite is indeed a rather fun and unique concept that you should consider checking out.

First impressions

Right off the bat, you will note that Fortnite has multiple missions. Some of these are focused on exploration; others are more focused on combat. But the idea is pretty much the same all the time. You have to tear down trees, cars, and rocks with your pickaxe. Get the tools you need to create your base, make it powerful and eliminate the zombies that come your way. It’s a complex concept when compared to other games out there, but it does work well.

Gameplay

The idea of fighting hordes of zombies and defending yourself against the incoming hordes is a really enjoyable one. And honestly, the game is a whole lot of fun at its best. You also have the ability to switch between weapons and there are lots of them as well. You have axes, swords, shotguns, rifles, and pistols.

But for some people, the joy may come from building your structures. It’s not a Minecraft-level crafting experience, but it does get close to that. You can add stairs, floors, walls, and traps if you want. And adding these is very easy to do and it will also offer you some rather interesting experiences that you will enjoy quite a bit.

Fortnite does have a learning curve, yet the system used here is pretty easy to grasp after you spend a little time with it. Despite the fact that there is a clear survival and crafting component here, you don’t have the Rust levels of survival. Instead, the combination of building, tower defense and shooting is very solid and a lot of fun to be had. Everything is adapted to your game experience as you play, and the title as a whole is pretty exciting for sure.

Fortnite

You do need to realize that playing Fortnite does require plenty of time though. Between acquiring schematics, creating buildings and killing enemies, you will note that a lot of time will pass. However, you also have to think about the weapon durability. Your weapons aren’t going to last forever, so you need to opt for some extras in your inventory.

As for the skill tree, I found it rather complex. There are multiple research points for each character, and each time you play, you get to have a chance at unlocking new stuff. Fortnite will also require you to think about storing items as well, which can be a problem at times.

Closing thoughts

Despite its complexity, Fortnite is a fun game. However, it will be free to play next year, so investing in it at this point is only worth it if you believe that you will play it for quite some time before its eventual free release. You also get characters and bonuses such as inventory slots with the Deluxe and superior versions. But these are rather pricey. That being said, Fortnite’s free to play model is still a mystery and it’s not detailed, so buying it is the only way to play for at least the next 12 months. It is a good game, and it will surely be something you enjoy, so try it out!
